Post-Implant Surgery/Implant Treatment Instructions

After undergoing implant surgery or treatment, it’s essential to follow these guidelines for optimal recovery:

  • Manage Discomfort: Expect some pain, bleeding, swelling, and oozing, which are normal after oral surgery. Avoid inspecting the site with your tongue or fingers, and refrain from pulling on your lip. If you experience excessive bleeding or discomfort beyond 48-72 hours, contact our office immediately.
  • Pain Management: Take ibuprofen or acetaminophen as directed on the label or by our office for pain relief.
  • Reduce Swelling: Apply a cold compress near the implant site for the first 36 hours, then switch to moist heat to help reduce swelling.
  • Oral Hygiene: Rinse gently with warm salt water three times a day. Avoid brushing near the surgery site, but continue to maintain oral hygiene as instructed.
  • Dietary Restrictions: Stick to liquids and soft foods for the first few days. Avoid hot, spicy foods, carbonated beverages, and alcohol.
  • Activity Restrictions: Rest on the day of surgery and gradually resume normal activities the following day.
  • Follow-Up Care: Attend all follow-up appointments to monitor the healing process.
